The Sunshine Hotel

John was travelling cross-country in his car. One evening he was driving along a road looking for a small hotel. He saw an old man on the side of the road. He stopped his car and said to the old man, "I want to go to the Sunshine Hotel, do you know it?" "Yes," the old man answered. "I'll show you the way."

The old man got into John's car and they drove about 12 miles. When they came to a small house, the old man said, "Stop here." Pat stopped and looked at the house. "But this isn't a hotel," he said to the old man.

"No, the old man answered. "This is my my house. And now I'll show you how to get to the Sun Hotel. Turn back and go about nine miles. It will be on your left."

Deepest Sympathy

For a long time, Dr. Smith had wanted to get a prestigious position in a certain big, modern hospital and at last he was successful. He was appointed to the job he wanted and he and his wife bought a new house close to the hospital. The next day some beautiful flowers were delivered to them with a note that said, "Deepest Sympathy."

Naturally, Dr. Smith was annoyed to receive such a tasteless note. He called the flower shop that had sent the flowers to complain about the note. When the shop owner heard this news, he apologized profusely for the mistake.

"But what really worries me more," he added, "is that the flowers that were meant for you went to a funeral with a card that said, Congratulations on your new position."
